The Little Venice of Prague

Would you like to explore hidden places in Prague without any tourists? Then this is the right tour for you! You will visit area which is thanks to its lovely atmosphere often called „The Venice of Prague“. Even though it is situated right next to the Charles Bridge, it is surprisingly calm and quiet place.
What is there to see:
The walk starts near the Charles Bridge, one of the main and most magnificent sights that Prague can offer.
The tour continues through the artificial Kampa Island formed by a branch of the Vltava known as the Devil's Stream (Čertovka). A park designed in the English style can be found at the southern end of Kampa whereas the northern part has Renaissance houses and a Baroque palace. Until 16th century, Kampa was also an ideal place for mills, some of them are still preserved.
Then you will visit the Maltese Square (Maltézské náměstí), where you can see the former seat of the Knights of Malta, Grand Priory Palace and the so-called John Lennon Wall, once a kind of monument to youthful rebellion. One of the most impressive sights is the Church of Our Lady below the Chain (Kostel Panny Marie pod řetězem) with its two mighty Gothic towers.
Our last stop will be the Church of Our Lady Victorious (Kostel Panny Marie Vítězné), the first Baroque church in Prague, with the famous Holy Infant of Prague. It is said that the charming statue of the Child Jesus has miraculous curing powers and that it was the protector of the city against plague and the destruction in the 30 years war.
At the end of our tour you can relax by the Vltava river in one of the various cafés or small pubs.
